（ＩＨＴ）ミャンマーの軍事政権崩壊に備えて、中国は非常時対応計画を立案する

And as Myanmar's strongest international supporter, China wants to avoid any
damage to its reputation from Myanmar's handling of political dissent,
particularly with the approach of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
ミャンマーの最強の支援者は中国だが2008年オリンピックを控えて中国は軍事政権
崩壊の場合のイメージ低下の被害を最小化すべく計画している。

Beijing has exerted diplomatic pressure on the junta to avoid a repeat of the
violent crackdown on demonstrations in 1988 that led to extended periods of
house arrest for the opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
中国は軍事政権に対して野党、アウンサン･スーキー勢力のデモ等への暴力的な介入を
止めるように従来から圧力をかけてきた。

"If Aung San Suu Kyi became the leader of Burma tomorrow, China would be the
first country to roll out the red carpet," said Bertil Lintner, an analyst of
Myanmar politics based in Thailand. "But they wouldn't like to see it happen."
タイ在住のミャンマー政治アナリストであるBertil Lintnerは「もし、アウンサン・
スーキーが明日、ビルマの指導者になれば、中国はその前に紅いカーペットを敷く
(歓迎して迎える）最初の国になるだろう。しかし中国はそうならないように望んで
いる」と述べている。中国人民開放軍はビルマ軍事政権とつながりが深いが、同時に
タイに亡命した反政府勢力にも非公式なコンタクトを保っている。(後略）

(BRUSSELS) - China has advised the Myanmar regime "not to overreact" to the
peaceful protests taking place in Yangon, the European Commission told a meeting
of EU experts Wednesday, according to a diplomatic source.
The message came during a meeting of Asia experts from the 27 EU nations, who
shoe-horned the Myanmar issue into a scheduled meeting.

欧州委員会の外交筋に拠れば、中国はミャンマーの軍事政権に対して、国内の抗議行動
に「過剰なリアクションをしないように」とアドバイスしているという。これはＥＵの
27ヶ国とアジア専門家とのミャンマー問題検討会議で伝えられた話。公式的には中国外
交部の広報官は「中国は内政干渉はしない」としてミャンマー問題にコメントしていな
